Mustapha has been in the diamond industry since 1972. Mustapha attended diamond grading courses at the International Gemmological Institute in Antwerp and the GIA and has a graduate diploma in diamond grading from the European Gem Laboratory. He has also attended an “effective chief executive programme” at the Irish Management Institute, sponsored by UNDP, and two courses at the Institute of Public Administration & Management at the University of Sierra Leone.

Mustapha has undertaken and completed the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
