A locally owned off-shoot of DCi, Diamond Counsellor Angola (DCA), is valuator and consultant to Endiama and Sodiam, the state companies controlling all diamond activities in Angola. DCA values all mine productions sold on the open market and the exports of the buying offices.
DCi and its predecessor were Government Diamond Valuator in Botswana from 1970 to 1982. During this period, Martyn Marriott was also the government’s diamond consultant and a member of the government team that negotiated all diamond contracts.
In June 2017, Algonquian Diamond Counsellor international Corporation (ADCi), a subsidiary of DCi, won a competitive international tender and was appointed GDV for the regional government of Quebec. ADCi is responsible for the independent valuation of Stornoway’s Renard mine, a production of about 1.6 million carats per annum.
In 1994 DCi advised NWT authorities on its entry into the diamond business.
DCi is retained by the government of Guinea to provide diamond valuations to the Bureau National de Expertise, which values diamond shipments of the licensed buying offices and of mining operations. DCi also advised the government on its liberalisation of the diamond industry in 1992.
In November 2014, following a competitive international tender process, Diamond Counsellor Lesotho (DCL), a subsidiary of DCi set up for the purpose, was awarded the Lesotho GDV contract to provide the government with independent valuation expertise and advise on the diamond industry in the country. Lesotho’s diamond production consists of Gem Diamonds’ high value Letseng production, Storm Mountain Diamonds’ KAO and Firestone Diamonds’ Liqhobong.
DCi was appointed GDV to the Government of Liberia, with responsibility for valuing all diamond exports from the country, in May 2008, after a successful tender process. The contract has subsequently been extended.
Diamond Counsellor Namibia, a subsidiary of DCI, was government valuator in Namibia from 1994 to 2004, checking the sales value of the CDM and Marine productions sold through the CSO (De Beers), and the Namco and other small productions sold direct to the market.
DCi is the independent rough diamond valuator to the Government Diamond Office (GDO), responsible for valuing diamonds for export from licensed buying offices and local mining operations.
In June 2020 DCi was awarded the contract to provide independent rough diamond valuation, training and consultancy services to the government of the Central African Republic.
