Ben has been in the diamond industry since 2002. He has extensive experience as a GDV and also of Independent valuation and bulk sampling work. He is very knowledgeable in polished diamonds.

Ben has an MA Hons degree and has completed diamond courses with the GIA and HRD.

    Bid for, secured and negotiated the role of Auditor of the Bangui rough diamond stockpile in Central African Republic on behalf of the Kimberley Process Monitoring Team and the CAR Government.

    Wrote and prepared the winning bid in a competitive international tender for DCi’s Canadian off shoot, ADCi, to become Government Diamond Valuator (GDV) for the regional Government of Quebec, Canada

  • August 2014

    Wrote, prepared and negotiated the winning bid in a competitive international tender to secure the contract of GDV for the Kingdom of Lesotho.

    Secured contract to act as Independent Diamond Valuator for the Guiter Mine (formerly Aredor), Guinea.

    Wrote and prepared the winning bid document in a competitive international tender, to secure DCi the contract as Government Diamond Valuer (GDV) for the Government of Liberia.

  • 2007.

    Founding Director of Algonquian Diamond Counsellor international (ADCi), a Canadian rough diamond valuation and consultancy company.

  • 2007 to 2009.

    Expanded the DCi contract in Brazil following the takeover of Elkedra Diamonds NL by Vaaldiam Resources Ltd to include the valuation of the Duas Barras mine production.

  • 2006 to 2009.

    Runs the DCi contract valuing the Chapada production for Elkedra diamonds in Brazil.

  • 2004 to present.

    Assists in establishment and running of Wint & Kidd, London diamond jewellery retailer, with management, buying and selling responsibilities. Becomes a valuer with DCi working in London, Angola, Sierra Leone and Brazil.

    Trained with various diamond firms in Antwerp and London.
